A CombiSensor is the name for a sensor that reads out several measurements. In the case of the Digmesa CombiSensor: Flowrate, Temperature and Conductivity (TDS).
A water flow meter measures just the flowrate of water. The Digmesa CombiSensor reads out: Flowrate (of different media, not mandatorily water), Temperature and Conductivity (TDS).
It is not. But there is a close relation between them, expressed by a so called «conversion factor».
There are two types of CombiSensors: The type with digital (Modbus) Interface. The type with analogue (4–20mA) Interface. Both types can be configured with different process connection, flow-ranges, el. connectors and materials (in contact with media).
Dominant applications are the Waterfilter Industry. It is designed for (RO-)waterfilter that apply medium- or high-level filter technologies. That requires the three measurements Conductivity (TDS), Temperature and Flow.
We have interesting customer projects where the CombiSensor is monitoring cleaning cycles. Due to good conductivity resolution and accuracy, different media «Rinsing Water», «Cleaning Solvent 1», «Cleaning Solvent 2», «Air» can be distinguished. This is specially interesting for Dispensers (of beverages or chemical sovents).

In recent years, electrical conductivity as a measurand has rapidly developed to become a general quality indicator for water quality. In sectors such as water filters, heating filling or cooling circuits, threshold values are prescribed by law or at least recommended. In addition, the units are becoming ever smaller and electrical conductivity is often needed along with temperature and flow rate for process control. Temperature-compensated conductometry is frequently called for.
